A Choice?

Today is the Feast of the Holy Innocents. We recount the Bible story of their deaths in the Gospel of Matthew (Ch 2:v 16-18):

“Herod perceiving that he was deluded by the wise men, was exceeding angry; and sending killed all the men children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.

Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremias the prophet, saying: “A voice in Rama was heard, lamentation and great mourning;

Rachel bewailing her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.”

On this holy Feast Day it’s worth drawing attention to the words of Mary to Mother Mary of Agreda in the book “The Mystical City of God”.

Regarding the slaughter of the innocents Mary told Mother Mary of Agreda in the sections ‘Words of the Queen’

“Well founded is thy sorrow to see how such a noble creature as man, made according to the likeness and image of the Lord, endowed with such divine qualities, and gifted with the power of knowing, loving and seeing and enjoying God eternally, should allow himself to be degraded and defiled by such brutal and abominable passions as to shed the innocent blood of those who can do no harm to anyone (Herod’s actions).

This should induce thee to weep over the ruin of so many souls…when that same ambition which incited Herod has kindled such great hatred and enmity among the children of the Church, occasioning the ruin of countless souls…”

Herod was jealous and felt threatened by the Christ child, the Messiah the three Wise Men had foretold was to be born in his reign.

Jealousy can be deadly if we let it fester in our hearts causing us to hate others. It’s often triggered when we feel ‘threatened’ by a perceived rival. It’s a sin, born of excessive desire for prestige and of worldly ambition, and a result of lack of love in hearts.

Regarding abortion, in our societies we have come to the point where ‘new life’ is perceived as a ‘threat’ to comfort, ambition and worldly ‘success’.

Our modern day innocents need protection from the slaughter that rages each day in legalised abortion clinics up and down our lands.

We need to pray and sacrifice for an end to the evil of abortion in our midst. Through the intercession of the Holy Innocents we pray that all blocks to the ‘new life’ God wishes to bring into the world will be removed and hearts will be cleansed by love.

The Holy Innocents, slaughtered by the wrath, greed and jealousy of Herod were the first flowerings of the Church that jesus instituted on earth. They died in Christ’s stead, martyred in blood.

So too may the Holy Innocents of our times be the seedbed of a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the world.

Feast of the Holy Innocents As Rachel wept for Ephraim’s sons at Rama, so too, the Church weeps for all aborted babies and the infanticides throughout the world also.

Let us pray for all the unborn on this special day that Our Lady of Guadalupe will convert and heal all those who’ve been involved in abortion in any way.

Thankyou for your continued prayer and support of the Siege pro life of witness.

We wish all readers a blessed and a fruitful 2012 as they work for God’s Kingdom on earth.

Abortion Poems

Please be aware-This abortion poem does not intend to offend but to show the true cost of abortion, some people may find it upsetting if they have undergone an abortion.

MY LITTLE ONE

Today I think of you while I am weeping

And slowly count the lost and empty years;

If you had lived, it would have been your birthday,

Though every day, in truth, is filled with tears.

I try, of course, to think of other matters,

To dust and clean and wash away the pain

And yet the more I try to push you from me,

The deeper in my heart do you remain.

What colour were your eyes, your hair I wonder

Your little ears – what shape would they have been?

I want you, seek you, yearn so much to hold you

But in my searching mind you stay unseen.

If I  had known upon that day the future,

If I had felt the torment I would bear,

If I had not then let them take you from me,

I would not now be slave to this despair.

Within that room of death and dark and coldness

The devil surely did exultant dwell,

For was it not indeed the very annex

Adjacent to the icy halls of hell.

And is it my imagining, I wonder,

When first you felt that sharp, satanic knife,

You cried to me in fear, “What’s happening, Mama?

I beg you, help me … help me … save my life”.

It is a world become malign and shadowed

Where forces cruel, depraved, demonic reign,

Where those who are most innocent and helpless

Are cast away like winnowed husks of grain.

They talk of “women’s choice” and “women’s freedom”

And claim the right to life is theirs alone;

They blind their eyes to those who still lie hidden

Within the womb that they, themselves, have known.

All joy, all hope, all human warmth must perish

When pity, love and trust are thus betrayed,

When frozen hearts and callous hands accomplish

A work that dares destroy what God has made.

And it is He, the Lord of Life, who formed you

And cherishes you now, my little one,

Who will, upon that day when all shall tremble,

Ask why it was this piteous deed was done.
